ILLUSIONI: Matteo Bosi - Alchemy Studio - 2007 new album, completed on Christmas 2007.

ILLUSIONI ("ILLUSIONS" in english) was given to my friends as Christmas gift, and now it is partially published on the net. If you are interested in receiving the CD in jewel box with 2 page B/W booklet (45 minutes of music, 12 songs) write me! You can find this album also on Bandcamp and buy it for as low as 5 euro.

The cd is very etherogeneus, it has 12 instrumental songs (10 original piece, 2 covers/rearrangements) which go from soundtrack-style music, to rock/hard rock/progressive, to ethnic, ambient, new age, classical...
You will find here the complete tracklist, with also a lot of comments regarding the track recordings. A lot of songs are just 1 minute (or so) preview, but there are also some full song.
The cd was entirely realized by me in my Alchemy Studio. All the instruments were played and arranged by Matteo Bosi, with the exception of the bass guitar in "Konig" (Emiliano Zampella) and the guitar solo in "Sognando l'Alieno" (Khaled Abbas)

The final mastering was obtained with Creamware plugin: mastering chain was a 32 band EQ, PSYQ (psychoacustic enhancer) and Optimaster (multiband compressor/limiter)

Please write me all your comments!

01 - Twins (Excerpt)

Inspired by a classical TV-movie of the '80s. The main sounds are from my korg 01RW and the Yamaha TG77 for the bass part. Drums were added thank to Rayzoon Jamstix and its stock sounds. The main theme is doubled with an electric guitar, and an acoustic solo follows. The crescendo in the ending is played by the Garritan Personal Orchestra
02 - La via verso Saturno (complete song)

"The road to Saturn" - It is between ethnic music and progressive-post-rock. The theme is developed in different ways with electrical and classical guitar, and the structure is unusual. For the melody i used some ethnic samples downloaded from Raw Samples and i also added some acoustic guitar "spanish"-like solo. Some ethnic percussions and drums - Bob Clearmountain 2 - played by Rayzoon Jamstix complete the piece
The song was very well considered from KVR-AUDIO forum
I wrote this piece a long time ago, with the name "Saturno". For Illusioni i completely rearranged and played all the instruments again. You can find the old version in the misc song page"
03 - Konig (Excerpt)

A "pop-rock" song with a shredding ending solo, in which i overdubbed 3 guitars. The odd ending is preceded by some quiet theme played with the flute and the guitar. This song, too, was recorded a long time ago, and remixed for this album.
04 - Sognando l'alieno (Excerpt)

"Dreaming the Alien". The song is inspired by the "guitar alien" Steve Vai... My is just a timid try to write a song in his style using just a guitar, a bass and drums (and an odd-tempo). The central solo was played by Khaled Abbas. The guitar (Yamaha Pacifica) and the bass (Yamaha Soundgear) were played thru a direct box and reamped by Creamware/Sonic Core Dynatube
05 - Animater (complete song)

This is a new-age style song. written some years ago and rearranged. I added some voice recorded from the Slovak television, which i consider very evocative (expecially the female one). I also played one of the traditional Slovak flute, called Fujarka.
06 - Il mare della tranquillità (Excerpt)

"The sea of tranquillity". Definitely, some music from outer space! The pad-textures-bed sounds were achieved with "Metaphysical Function", a free Native Instruments VSTi for registered used released some years ago. Those soudns were then processed by kontakt 2. I added a bass line and an extremely effected guitar melody (using the "ultra room" from behringer V-AMP). "Percussive Adventures" gives the rhytmic pulse. You have to focus on where actually is the "sea of tranquillity" to appreciate the epiphany on the end...
07 - Un profumo lontano (Excerpt)

"A scent from far away". I put some of my remebering from India in this song... A sitar and some street voices i recorded in Chennai give rise to an ethnic painting and a sound-image from a distant land. I added some tablas ("pure tablas" library), a bass and a some prog-drum, as always played byRayzoon Jamstix. I also dubbed the Sitar with a cheap, but terrific flute i bought in China. In the middle part i also used an harmonium sampled by me.
08 - Una sera d'estate (Excerpt)

"A midsummer night". A piece for piano and violin, definitely sad and romantic. The due is accompanied by a deeply-effected percussion. All the soudns are from Garritan Personal Orchestra.
09 - Bianca (Excerpt)

Bianca is the name of a friend's of mine daughter, and i wrote this piece when she was born. It is an orchestral piece in which play all the Garritan Personal Orchestra, along with an electric piano (from WusikStation), a rhytmic line, some synth, a bass and an acoustic guitar.
10 - Il mio ricordo (Excerpt)

"My memory". It a very intense piece, which i wrote for a sad event. It could be a music for a soundtrack. The main theme is played by the Garritan Personal Orchestra piano, while the flute is the tin whistle from "Rare Instruments".
11, 12 - E' questo il modo in cui finisce il mondo (complete songs)
"This is the way in which it ends the world"
The album ends in two part:

E' questo il modo in cui finisce il mondo: 11 - Con un lamento

"This is the way in which it ends the world:in a lament"

Prelude n.1 from Bach's "well tempered clavier" played by the classical guitar and the voice of Carlotta Pizzi, recitating a poem (in italian) by Thomas Eliot ("The hollow men")
E' questo il modo in cui finisce il mondo: 12 - In una bolla di sapone

"This is the way in which it ends the world:in a soap bubble"

A cover from a famous old videogame. This piece was published on remix.kwed.org
