Behringer Patchbay

The patchbay is a very useful element in a studio, when you have to deal with several audio sources and denstinations. It permits an extrmely simple signal routing, without having to deal every time with cables, pulling out and re-cabling everything
In simple words (and not exhaustively), the audio patchbay permits to route an audio signal. You connect the audio cables on the rear: they can be either inputs (for example the line input of the PC) or outputs (for example the audio out of a synth or of the HiFi). These connections are then routed on the front of the patchbay, so that you can take every ouput signal and direct it on every input source, without having to deal with the physical cable.

PatchBay (20K)

My patchbay is organised as follows:

Audio sources:
- VAMP
- HiFi stereo out
- Secondary TG77 output
- Pulsar line out

Audio destinations
- nEar05 Monitor
- HiFi stereo input
- Pulsar line in

This routing permits, for example, to connect immediately my minidisc to the Pulsar input (for the recording on the PC) or to the HiFi input (for just listening). All i have to do is to connect a cable from the minidisc out to the apporpriate Patchbay hole.
I can connect the Korg 01RW phone out directly to my HiFi, so that i can play the synth with my masterkeyboard (thanks to a particular MIDI routing) without turn on the PC.
Moreover, i can connect the HiFi out to the PC, to record on the PC audio tapes
